We have exciting news! We are proud to announce that for the entire month of June we will be sponsoring our first Yellow Bike Library (YBL) - a free bikeshare program!
As the Bay Area limps toward a 700-bicycle regional bikeshare program at the cost of $7 million, some enterprising San Franciscans decided to make use of the abundant bicycles already circulating in the community, some functional, most in ill-repair, fix them up and liberate them for the benefit of all San Franciscans - for free.
Come down to [ freespace ] (1131 Mission St) any time between 10 am and 10 pm during the month of June to check out a yellow bike for free for up to two days. Bikes come complete with lights and a lock (and hopefully a helmet if we can source enough). The purpose of [ freespace ] as a whole and the Yellow Bike Library in particular is to exhibit the power that every day citizens have to positively impact their community and this city with just a little coordination and cooperation. We’re excited to improve access to bicycles for all San Franciscans and to help spread the simple joy that comes with riding a bike through our beautiful city.
Hacking for the good of all!

Progress in (Days)
Here are a few of the photos of our time at [FreeSpace]. The growth and ingenuity of the community is boundless. A lot of change can happen in a short period of time if we put our energy towards it.
