SF Yellow Bike + Groupon Grassroots = Mobile shop!
We’ve got some exciting news: We’re teaming up with Groupon Grassroots, the philanthropic arm of Groupon, to fund a new Mobile Bike Shop!
Grassroots is a community outreach initiative within Groupon that brings people together to do good, have fun, and create positive change in their community.
With this initiative, we’ll be asking for your $10 donation toward a Mobile Bike Shop. We'll be using the shop to reach out to communities around the Bay that don't have access to bike repair shops, to teach folks about basic bike maintenance, and encouraging them to get cycling. Those of you who have visited our brick & mortar shop on 25 Division, and generously donated your time to SFYBP know that we are a 100% volunteer-run shop. Even our Leadership Team volunteers their time to the cause of getting bikes into everyone's hands, and helping them learn to do their own repairs and feel more empowered as cyclists.
Since you are essential to our success, we want you to be the first to know about our campaign. It's important that we build momentum—here’s how you can help:
1. Subscribe to Groupon (http://www.groupon.com/subscriptions/new) in San Francisco before the campaign launch.(The deal is through SF, so even if you live elsewhere, please subscribe to this page.)
2. Visit the Groupon site on Thursday, February 28th, when the campaign launches.
3. Be the first to give by supporting SFYBP's Mobile Bike Shop and spread the word to friends and family, encouraging them to do the same.
We’ll share the campaign link on Facebook and Twitter, and right here on our blog once the campaign launches tomorrow.
***Tipping Point: Please note that during the early stages of the campaign, the page will show that we need 40 $10 donations to meet our goal. This is just the "seed" to keep the campaign alive. In order to completely fund our new Mobile Bike Shop, we need a total of $3000 (300 donations). If you have any questions, give us a shout. We love to hear from you, and cherish your support.
Thank you!
