Testimonial Tuesday: Terence Tse Shares His SFYBP Experience

Meet 25-year-old Terence Tse, who believes our SFYBP family is

”literally democratizing the bicycle…”

How did you get involved with SFYBP?

After undergrad, I biked across country from Baltimore to SF. I have always been interested in bikes and mechanics and when I moved to SF a year later, I knew I wanted to get involved with the community. There is something visceral about riding a bike around the city.

Describe your experience as a volunteer for SFYBP. How often do you volunteer?

The first time I went to the shop, I literally just went to go hang out and see what SFYBP was all about. I already had a bike, and it was on the way home from work so I just decided to stop in. I was put to work right away!

What about SFYBP’s mission inspires you?

The fact that it is so grassroots and everyone is so knowledgeable and focused on serving the community. Right away, it was a great way for me to meet people with similar interests, while being able to give back. SFYBP is literally democratizing the bicycle.

As a volunteer, what is your vision for SFYBP’s future?

To build our community with a more sustainable rhythm, host open houses every month, see our volunteer base grow and just get more people in the shop- Don’t be intimidated; just come!
